Pat Desplats should talk to Mimi Casteel. She is the most devout exponent of "please stop plowing" in US winemaking circles. They are both right. It's not rocket science that annual plowing is terrible for climate change, and by extension, for human life. Yes, you can still plow and make great natural wines. But that doesn't mean it's good for the earth or for our future.
Really inspiring! Lovely interview. Thanks!
Wonderful interview, thank you! Do you know of other winemakers in France or Italy who experience with letting the vines grow on trees?
Not off the top of my head, no. But it often occurs in abandoned vineyards, when trees begin to grow amid the rows.
ferretti vini in Emilia Romagna has some trees in their vineyard with vines trained up them.
