Welcome to the Not Drinking Poison newsletter! A bi-monthly review of natural wine culture. By me, Aaron Ayscough. (Pronounced, “A scoff.”)
I’m a British-American wine writer based in Paris. I started a blog about natural wine called “Not Drinking Poison” in 2010. My writing about wine and restaurants has since been featured in The Financial Times, The New York Times: T Magazine, PUNCH, Eater, Wine Business International, Sprudge Wine, Pipette, and The Feiring Line. I’m also the English translator of two books by the late wine scientist Jules Chauvet (Wine in Question and The Aesthetics of Wine). My first wine book, A Field Guide to Natural Wine, is scheduled for release in the USA by Artisan Books in early 2022.
The Not Drinking Poison newsletter is an evolution of the blog of the same name. It’ll serve up the blog’s signature assemblage of reporting, winemaker interviews, and commentary - but in a sharper, streamlined, and, hopefully, more profitable format. I’ve been living in the same tiny apartment for ten years and I have a small dog to feed.
Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue. It’ll come out on November 19th, to coincide with the release of Beaujolais Nouveau. In the meantime, tell your friends!
